E Impact

eImpact LogoThe Mission West Virginia e-IMPACT Program is the umbrella under which all of the organization's technology initiatives are coordinated. e-IMPACT focuses on providing computer hardware and training to people across the state and Appalachian region who would otherwise find it difficult, if not impossible, to bridge the digital divide and develop the skills necessary to succeed in the emerging information-based economy. The projects within the e-IMPACT program are listed below. To find out more about these programs, click on the link for the program(s) that interest you. Community Learning Labs - Funded through grants from the Appalachian Regional Commission and the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, e-IMPACT is able to provide rural communities with state-of-the-art computer labs. Build It, Keep It, Share It - In partnership with the Workforce Investment Board and Regional Education Service Agency (RESA), e-IMPACT provides a youth computer education program in rural communities throughout West Virginia. During a one week training, youth are provided with the tools, parts, and knowledge needed to build their own computer. At the end of the training, the student is able to take the computer home with them. To find out more about the "Build It, Keep It, Share It" program, click here. Technology Academy Small business owners and those looking to start an online business can learn how to move into the world of e-Commerce at an upcoming training in your community. The workshop will take small business owners step by step through a learning process that will emphasize how to develop a profitable e-Commerce solution for their business. The program explores real life case studies to allow participants an opportunity to see how other small business owners are successfully utilizing an internet business plan. Participants then develop an internet business plan specifically tailored to their business. Read More
